With the help of the boys from Red, Pictorvision has developed a 6 Red Epic array for shooting very high resolution Aerial VFX plate shots.
It shot a major film (that of course we can't talk about) over a months time and worked even better than we hoped. Now we're showing it for the first time publicly at an open house / demo next Wednesday Oct 30th from 1-6 PM. The official invite and sign in can be found at:
http://pictorvision.givezooks.com/events/multi-camera-array-demonstration

Key Specs:
6 Red Epics shooting 5K resolution- 3 Epics across x 2 Red Epics high = 15K camera resolution
(12K resolution when overlap is accounted for)

Total resolution is 82 Megapixels
46 Megapixel panoramic images when stitched
Field of view: 140 degrees horizontal, 60 degrees vertical
Overlap is 1650 pixels horizontal and 530 pixels vertical.

Once again Pictorvision is going above and beyond....

That seems pretty awesome! Can't wait to see the shot when its public.

How does it compensate for vibration? I'd love to see a single still from the rig (with guides showing the 6 different frames).

The 6 camera array is installed in our Eclipse Gyro-stabilized aerial camera system. We basically pull out the single camera, and replace it with 6 that are pin registered on a mounting platform for proper placement. It's a huge payload, but we make it work.

amazing

I always wondered when someone will re-invent cinerama with RED-cameras. ;) Looks like this is it and lot more.
Really cool stuff.

Modern day Cinerama? Oh yeah! Hopefully you won't need multiple projectors setup like the old Cinerama though :O Very cool! Don't have the budget for this but am planning on giving this a go with some GoPro's or DSLR's when I get the chance just for fun of course.

EDIT: Guy above me beat me to it...well I guess one way to put it is great minds think alike? ;) :D
