  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Setup is 4K....

Sometimes when I boot the Scarlet she gives me 3:1 as a compression option and other times its all greyed-out until 6:1. A reboot often resets this and i'm running the two newest builds. What changes to the setup could cause this on a normal day? ie what affects the datarate input to the card?

Anyone else seen this error?

Simon

Create a log file and submit it to RED support.
Lowest compression ratio available at 24fps is 6:1. You cannot record 3:1 with the Scarlet.

You will see this if there is no media or the media is formatted wrong. As soon as you insert a redmag, it bounces up to 6:1. If you are able to actually record in 3:1 something seems strange

+1, same here, once you have the media inserted the cam is limited to what it will be able to record and won´t allow a 3:1 compression.

Like Are Luke mentioned. It sounds like you have the camera set to the lowest compression. So when there's no mag in the camera it will default 3:1 until you put a mag in the camera and the camera reads the card speeds and resets to 6:1 automatically.

I had it record 3:1 once a few builds agos but it's actually recording at 6:1. It was just a one time display fluke.
