  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

5k or 2.5k...?

It's easily apparent resolution-wise when seeing 35mm film versus Epic vs. Alexa features on the same screen. The Epic footage on say something like Prometheus so far outshone Skyfall in terms of resolution that there wasn't even a debate in my mind. It was abundantly clear. To my eyes, your friend isn't even a little right. The 35mm on The Dark Knight Rises looked dull and soft to me much of the time and the Alexa-based Avengers was better but not nearly as resolute and sharp as the Epic shot films that I saw at the cinema last year. The 65mm footage on a standard screen (non-IMAX) was pretty amazing but I really didn't feel that it was any more immersive as the beginning of Prometheus or some of The Hobbit. Unfortunately many of the Epic shot blockbusters just weren't as good as they should've been this year.
Couldn't agree more. Epic need more carefully used, both on shot and on post procedures. Alexa is good too, but not so good on resolution.
