Just in case some of you out there are shooting 5K FF for a 16x9 image, beware that this is 5120x2700 pixels, which works out to a 1.9:1 aspect ratio...to get a 16x9 or 1.78:1 image you need to change your frame guide to 16x9 so you have an image area of 4800x2700. You'll still be recording the outer edges of the frame and can use in a pan/scan situation, but your 16x9 resolution will be 4800x2700.

I'm sure this is in some post out there, but I'm just throwing this out there for anyone just receiving their Epic X cameras.

Shooting 5k FF works well for 16x9 3D. It gives you extra room on the left and right to adjust in post.

This is a really good benifit of FF for 3D, So for 4800x2700 (5120x2700) I think up to 6.25% HIT ie 3.25% either side is available, some one better check my maths....

It's interesting that both Epic and F65 settled on the 1.9:1 aspect ratio.

If you take 2.40:1 and 16:9 and fit them in a common image circle, you get 1.9:1 at 5120x2700(1.896:1)
It's also DCI 4k (4096x2160 or 1.896:2).

"5K" 16:9 is coming... along with other modes. But as stated in another recent thread, Playback is of primary importance right now.

For now, we just crop. Actually I prefer to shoot 5KFF when I can. It's just beautiful to behold. :)

5KFF is pretty nice. Your wide lenses are really wide. I've seen a little fall off on the edges of my RED Zoom 18-50mm.
