512 GB ssd not seen by mac

card is formatable and usable with the epic (3.3.14)
but the mac doesnt see it.
two different machines.
10.6.8
macpro over esata (sonnet E4P)
any known issue?
disk utility doesnt open when the card is attached. works fine wit 256 gb cards

card plays back fine in camera and is seen by a PC. but our whole workflow is mac. any ideas?
tried it over thunderbold to esata adaptor on a 10.7.5 macbook pro too. no luck.

I ran into a similar issue with our 512 cards on a USB3.0 reader. Not sure about the eSATA reader though, but it turns out the new SSDs require more power than the older cards (had 256s work fine), so the reader needed the additional power from mains/2nd USB port to power it up in addition to the USB3.0 connection. Was trying for an hour to get the Windows 7 machine to read the 512 before trying plugging the extra cable in!
