We just launched our Kickstarter Project for the 50 Dollar Follow Focus. As you can see by the images, it is not the typical follow focus setup, but I assure you, it works just as well. It has no backlash, the belt it ships with fits the majority of lenses, while we do have an option for larger lenses if needed, it is CNC machined of of aircraft grade aluminum, adjusting the tension is as easy as turning the knob, moving the handle, and turning it back. It is ready for anything you throw at it.

We are production ready, just using Kickstarter to help pay for better tooling, and a bulk buy of materials needed for high quantity production.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Looks like a good idea for starters into video, dont know though about actual RED owners using this,

I take it you have an option to use a whip etc and adjust torque?

Also, I assume since this is advertising a product yet to be made, the minute you guys get funding you'll need to get advertising status on here so you'd probably need to talk to a mod about that otherwise this will more than likely get closed since it's unfair to those that pay to sell stuff on here...just heads up :)

Great to have you guys on board.

About the whip, and other options. For the time being, what you see is what you get. We wanted to get a product to market, then add other options as we see necessary. Feel free to post what you think would be good additions to the product, and we will do our best to make them work.

Our first two options will be a knob that accepts a standard whip, as well as a geared lens adapter. If the project reaches its funding, those should be ready within three months.

Just to clarify, it is absolutely not elastic. It is a Gates Kevlar Reinforced Timing Belt. It requires very little tension to grip the lens.

There's something entertaining about hitting Refresh on the Kickstarter page and watching the Backers number jump from 7 to 16 in about a 2 hour time span . . .

Count me in. First thing I'll be backing on Kickstarter. When I get home tonight. Wonder if the whole thing will be backed before I get to it.

EDIT: 38 minutes later: 53 backers. Almost halfway there.

Stretchable elastic will apply forces to the lens that it's not built to handle. You will need to offer different thcknesses of band.

however; inversely mounted, on a top rod, would alleviate lens stress on the mount as a variation of support. Granted the angle of "tension" would have to be perpendicular to the ground. Just a thought...

Looks like this kickstarter is going to meet its goal in a couple of hours. Nicely done. So when will you start shipping ;)
