  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

5" Touch Screen LCD Flicker

I've seen this come and go on 2.0.2 and 2.0.5, even shooting in daylight. Changing shutter angle does not resolve the issue. Sometimes a reboot is the remedy, sometimes not. It only affects the image on the LCD (the footage is fine) unless of course we're shooting at high frame rates under small lights.
 
I'm having the same 5.0" LCD flicker issue. Does not effect image but is annoying -- Can anyone confirm if this is firmware based, or is this something worth filing a support ticket for?
 
Mine only did it for the first week it came in. haven't done it since. I guess you just have to break it in?

I'm having it on the Bomb EVF with Epic-X (I don't have an LCD), straight out of the box. Slight flicker in both black levels and color balance. Doesn't happen when the lens is capped, only when the light values in the frame are changing (e.g., when I'm panning across a scene).
 
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? It's happening on both a Scarlet and Epic I've been shooting with (worse on the Scarlet) . I'm finding it really annoying.
 
I haven't heard of any solutions, but I agree, it's tough to work with. Hard to know if you've got flickering lights or not when all the midtones are flickering.
 
Just happened to me, Scarlet, 3.0.0.

Couple of reboots and it's gone. I should also note that before this the camera froze for some reason, so I had to perform a force shutdown.

same here.
contacted red support, get answered: known issue.
no flicker on the pro 5" touch lcd at 30fps. but flicker on the dp6 then ;-)


also a stutering image when the same pro touch 5" lcd is connected to the epic-x.

Do we know if we have any solution to this? I am using RedVolt but seeing flicker on my RED PRO LCD 5. (I don't see the flicker on my smallHD AC7 thou..)
 
I get a flickering screen whenever I come out of Screen or Power Save mode. Epic on the latest firmware, has been like that since the last 3-4 firmware updates. I've found that subsequently powering the Epic off/on stops the flickering.

I am on the latest firmware too(Epic) is this a firmware issue?
 
I'm having the same problem with my Epic MX
Red 5.0 is flickering. I have an extra DP4 connected to the camera and it is not flickering.
 
Go to monitor settings and change the refresh rate to 60Hz. Fixed it for me.
