Having some trouble with our Epic. The camera performed fine after a full day of shooting in the snow, but after it had been returned home and got out of the cold it wouldn't function-- not even a red light when the battery was in place. It never really got wet, and I was thinking it could have been an issue with the cold, even though I've taken it into much colder. I warmed it up for about 5 hours and finally when connected to power (AB battery and wall charger), the red light came on and I was able to boot up without trouble.
I took it out for shooting the next day in similar conditions, and it performed fine all day long. But once again, after returning home, the camera gave me trouble-- the 5.0 LCD no longer seems to be functioning. I gave the camera lots of time to warm up, this time to no avail. The camera boots up and appears to be running normally, with the exception that the fans seem to be running faster than usual. I'm able to control the camera via RedMote and can monitor via HDMI. However, the 5.0 LCD gives no signs of life. I would have thought it was an LCD/cable issue, but we have a backup 5.0 LCD monitor and cable that is confirmed functional on another Epic, and it gets the exact same results-- nada, black screen. So it must be something going on within the camera, or perhaps the port.
I tried a factory reset by holding the power button for 15 seconds-- no luck. Any ideas??
Also-- One thing that would be really helpful would be to able to format the card on a computer-- the camera is at least somewhat functional for our current shoot, by monitoring through HDMI and controling via RedMote, but I have no way to format the card. Is it possible to somehow do this on a mac?
Thanks!
