4x4 OR 4x5.56 filters?

Can I use 4x4 filters or will I run into problems with coverage on some lenses? Would the 4x5.56 filters be a better option?

I find 4x5 filters to be more commonly asked for and I prefer 4x5 to keep options open.

4x5.6 is standard "Panavision" size and will fit more lenses. 4x4 isn't going to cover a lot of larger-front cine glass.

If you have rotating stages in your mattebox, it's a good idea to have one or two 5.6x5.6 trays. Buy your polas and grads in this size so you can better rotate them without cutting filter edges into your frame.
