We could all throw out speculations on what we "think" this will be, or we can just save the time, and just wait until it comes out. Just my two cents.

I like to talk about these things.
I think it's helpful in terms of thinking about what might be possible and more importantly what you might want from a camera etc.

I'm just like you Adam. I want a RED so bad for the same reasons you do, and need an entry level camera that uses RED ecosystem. For me, it must have RAW (ProRes would be a bonus, but not required), interchangeable camera mounts (even if you get it initially with a Nikon or Canon mount), and Mini MAGS.

As an entry level camera, I want to invest RED accessories that I can later use on a Weapon upgrade. RED wants Weapon users to use their accessories on a B-drone/camera. I'm hoping there will be no CFast. The new 120Gb mini MAGS suggest RED will stick with mini MAGs. I expect Wi-Fi as the lack of it will make me wait longer to jump into the RED ecosystem.

Entry level users need the option of adding a PL mount and lenses. That get's them closer to a Weapon upgrade, so it's smart.

A $7K to $10 price point is fine with me and I can't see RED going lower on price and still be able to offer their ecosystem.

Blair this gets me really excited. I was one of those customers that felt like RED was abandoning the little guy with all the Rolls Royce priced products of late.

I hope that the mount is the only thing different than a normal Weapon on the outside. If it is a Canon EF mount non changeable I can always use a PL to EF adapter to use professional PL glass which I really cannot afford anyway. I do not want to see SXS or SD cards in this camera, if you read the Black Magic and even the Arri forums most of the issues are related to people using consumer memories. A 128gb SXS card costs more than the RED 120gb anyways.

If the under 10k price is for a working system and not just for the brain I will be doing cartwheels. This finally would let me get into the RED family and pushes me to improve my skills as a filmmaker, and I like that I can grow the system with the big boy parts as I go along. I hope all the pro Weapon modules will work on this camera.

I think that IBC was really about this camera from day one, we just don't know it yet. The low priced SSD and the low priced LCD released on the first day look like they were specifically made for this camera. The ribs on the small LCD even match the photo that Jarred posted.

Tell us more!@#$!@

@IBC... it wouldn't make much sense to drop the bomb at the end of the show. I'm pretty sure that teaser is all we get for now. Also keep in mind the pic has been posted on Jarred's private Facebook-account, not here or on RED.com. It has done it's purpose, feels a bit like in the old days. :)

You mean Red put their money if they are serious and have no fear?

I'm wondering if Jarrad is saying he is willing to prove the lack of fear through action!
That's a bit more mind blowing than a bit of a giggle around putting down a fiver etc.
I may be misinterpreting what he said tho! ;)

Freya
if you do not believe what Jarred saying why dont you put your money against RED?

Based on the hash tag I'm sure this isn't the camera... but I'd love to see RED develop a high-speed 4K camera that would compete with the Phantom.
In many ways it feels like a logical step for RED given their market.

I think it's a great voice for Red to hear what their customer base wants. It's like a virtual wishlist. It their own built-in focus group.

Also as far as I'm concerned 4K4ALL is the A7sii. Beat that in every aspect and RED has conquered 4K4ALL.

Inexpensive hardware purchase with a Subscription Model attached.
Personally i'm not even a fan of this when it comes to post-production, I can't think it would be fun to do that in terms of hardware. Just my 2 cents though.

Doesn't Arri do that with the Alexa and 120fps?

Logically, we will have more informations really soon.. This #4k4All teasing was made during the IBC start, that's a way to say : "Hey guys, we will announce a new cam during this IBC".

Teasing during the IBC and spill the beans later in the year would make no sense..
It could be just an attempt to steal some attention away from URSA Mini's and the surprise release of a7s II. Maybe nothing is ready besides drawings on the paper.

So I can finally have 4k? :)

I just have to port my Dragon to a distant destination.

If RED does the bodydesign smart and the workflows simple, I think the C300 MK II has defined a market which is in fact pretty huge/profitable.

In addition to #4K4all camera,
I hope in a Weapon upgrade for the “rest of us” EPIC-X DRAGON owners.

A Weapon without super high-end features:
- 6K res,
- aluminum or magnesium brain,
- weapon design and same modularity,
- interchangeable mount,
- No LUT
- No ProRes (or limited ProRes features).

Honestly trade-in my Epic to Magnesium Weapon for € 19.500 is too expensive.

Boy that paper drawing sure looked a lot like a camera body with a lens mount...

Remember that Jarred comes from a novice background with a DVX100. I'd think along those lines but in true RED style. Single body, hopefully a switch-able lens (pro/consumer DSLR glass), a fixed redcode at 4:4:4 internally, and a simplified casing. Look at the new Sony and the Panasonic 4K versions of the DVX and work from there.....IMO.

Something like this would be perfect. More or less I'd love to just take whats in the Epic-X dragon and put it into the smaller, lighter body. The Epic X dragon is great. But with Gimbals and Drones RED really did a great job hitting the mark with the Weapon's size.

Yes,
modern design, modern cooling, modularity without +1module, less weight.
