Hey fellow scarlet users!

I shot a music video a couple weeks ago on the new beta firmware and it's now live on youtube at 1080P:

Here's the info on what we had/used:

Red Scarlet
Sigma 18-35 1.8 ef mount
Lanpart FF
Oconnor Obox w/ streak filter
DP6 for focus monitor
Cammate Jib (20 feet)
Bartech wireless FF
2 person camera dept, 2 person G/E department
4-light Arri location light ki (300w, 2 x 650w, 1k open face)
4 dedo peppers
Basic flag kit and gels
2-day shoot

Edited proxies in FCP
Colored online r3ds in Davinci Resolve 9, exported to 4k prores 4444
VFX in AfterEffects in 4kProres4444
10bit DPX 4K master
4K 1080p prores hq online version

Yeah, we shot the entire piece on the 18-35 and it was fast and fast and sharp and easy.

Anyway, Let me know what you guys think. Questions and Constructive Criticism welcome!

I liked the entire piece. The coroeograhy was brilliant and the video was cut very well with it. I think it was very well lit through out. The slow mo was just right and of bendfit to the piece. I particulary liked the smallest dancer and the stage scenes. If i may comment. I think the shots of the singer well all too static, but apart from that I think its a very solid piece. Well done.

Thanks Kirk! You are right, the shots of the singer are all WRONG! They were spontaneously tacked on to the end of the day like it was a pickup shot or something, and I was sure it would just be re-shot at a later date with some thought, but nope.

Hey Paul- The camera has worked flawlessly on the latest update. I have shot 4 spots with it, and 2 rentals now, and it has been smooth as butter.

I recently did a test with the 4k 36fps and using optical flow in FCP-x to slow it down to 48fps so I could keep everything 4k and it worked flawlessly. We could not tell a difference between the slowed down clip and the 48fps 3k clip. For jobs we cannot rent epic and need to be all 4k this will probably be the route we go moving forward as we have not been able to justify the upgrade cost

Did you shoot at 1/72nd or 1/96th?

It's also worth mentioning that 4k ws cropped to 16:9 (~3022x1707) is still slightly more resolution than 3k 16:9 (2880x1620). Not much extra (only about 10%), but better than nothing... I don't remember the compression ratios of either though...

It would've been really awesome if RED somehow got 4.5kws/25fps on Scarlet-X working.
