Is there any advantage in shooting 4KHD if you have a rocket card?

When you down-convert 4KHD to 1080P its a tad sharper than 4K 16:9.
The cards last a tad more too on 4KHD.

IF you are grading from the native files on a 1080 display, with 4KHD u will monitor exactly a quarter of the pixels, therefore giving you a 50% scale to monitor. on the 4k 16:9 the images gets resized with a nearest pixel algorithm, and that means you probably will see some jaggies that are not really going to be present once you render.(some systems have bi-linear filtering on their Video out to avoid exactly this, but then the image gets a tad softer.... YMMV)

Is 5k supposed to be enough for "full color sample" Quad HD?

I can't remember how the details go. I asked this before and read a few threads about it. But all I can remember is that regarding a 2k finish the number necessary for a full color sample was 3 point something.

While with the downconversion from Quad HD to 1080 you would get your full color sample for sure, I would love to know what would it take to get full color information at both resolutions, Quad HD and 1080p?

I ask because I just thought that this might become the future standard, giving you something for future 4k theatrical and a smooth and optimal workflow for broadcast, all in one. Right?
