  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

4K tv's here they come..

can we get that with a PASSIVE 3d display please? Active is so cumbersome IMHO.

il be interested when they cram 4k onto a 42in screen for under 10k

I'll be interested when they cram 4k onto a 42in screen for under 10k

I guess the key question would be: how interested? Would you buy one ?

I'd buy one straight up if its was between 42"-52" and was 4K...definetly had to be well below the 10K mark and a great design, getting tired of these flimsy looking 42"s I have around
Given I just wish that when that happens (if it happens) that the entire media market shifts towards 4K also... gaming,blu-rays(red-rays?),ATV etc. otherwise, such a beautiful screen...and only got 720p/1080p material to play on it..

I think active 3D will prevail. Passive 3D is not perfect and also do not allow you to lay down on the sofa with off the vertical position of your head. You tilt your head and you will get a crosstalk.

The passive technology based on red and blue tint is even worse in terms of different problems.

I rather see ambient light powered (rechargeable) active glasses that will make more sense.
Large size of screen 65” and up makes it more suitable for 3D as well.
Looks like we will have explosion of large thin profile (LCD-LED) screen.

Nobody wants to handle 65” screen that is 6” thick anymore. One inch thick and 60”-65” 3D is probably what will dominate the market in the near future.
Now imagine it in 4K.

Yes.

Provided the resolution is not at the cost of panel quality.
Lg-Phillips has very good native 10bit IPS panels. Desktop PPI (27" models) could be cut for around 30-40" 4K models and TV PPI (32" 1080p models) could be cut for ~60" 4K models. Until OLED is fully ready. Around 40" is prefect for both video/multimedia studio display and versatile UHD desktop usage.
Under $10K.
