I can't wait to see what RED brings to the table in a few weeks. But what I'm really hoping for
is a new PRORESS module that we could record 4K to.
AJA has their new Ki Pro Quad, which is basically exactly that:

The problem with this and all other non-RED ProRess Recorders is mounting them to your camera, and
having all these god awful cables everywhere. That was the beauty of the design of the EPIC, to keep
everything modular and cable free.

Now PLEASE release a RED version of the Ki Pro Quad, that will just bolt on to the back. That would be AWESOME!

out of curiosity why 4k prores? REDRAW is roughly 700-800mb/s for 5k while prores hq is 220mb/s for roughly 2k. 4k prores hq would balloon that figure to 880mb/s. The question is why deal with such large files with a baked codec?

4K monitoring for sure. 4K output from the SDI and HDMI would be great, and in the near future a must. Although that could possibly happen with just a firmware update, hoping the hardware is already there.
Although I completely agree with the data rates of .R3D vs ProRess, I'm still always running into Producers and Editors requesting ProRess.
Although that's mainly because they haven't given up on FCP7. But it's still a reality. And hoping a new Mac Pro will also emerge this year and cut those export times in half.
I'm running a Hackintosh 3.5 Quad i7 and exporting BEST QUALITY from CS6 is about a 15:1 ratio. Meaning 1 min of RED footy takes 15 min. to export to Proress 1080p.
Now try exporting a 90 min. feature and your talking a 22 HOUR render! A lot of shit can go wrong in a 22 HOUR RENDER!

Although expensive the Meizler Module does just that.
