Out of the current crop of sub $3k monitors is there a current leader or is it currently for early adopters only? And has anyone used one of those Seiki tvs as an output monitor with any success even though it is only 30hz?

I'm new here by the way. Hi!

What is your use of the 4K monitor. At the present time those that are in the bargain basement price range will possibly have issues with "lit" pixels, luminance issues across the panels. The Monitor/TV is actually made up of 4 separate panels each one being 1920x1080. They are "cheap" because they are using cast off panels that would have been tossed due to purity issues. I've seen it in the Seiki monitors. If it is only for your use and to show a 4K output from a camera, that's cool. If your clients are going to be looking at it and someone is going to make critical comments/decisions then I'd carefully consider the need. The cheap monitors/tv's can leave a bitter taste if someone is thinking that is what 4K is going to be.

Yeah it seems like the color isnt quite there on the 4k monitors yet. It would be for my own use, not for clients.
