Is anyone out there mastering in 4K?????

If so what specs, codec are you using?
Is there any generally accepted standard 4k format for future use? Quad HD or 4k? 16:9 or 2:1?

cheers

There are several options. I love predictive lossless Hi444PP 10-bit X264s. Be warned that lossless takes up vast amounts of space. Another great option is OpenEXR with PIZ lossless compression (sometimes ZIP works better for clean source). Of course, if you want to save some space, you can get excellent or "visually lossless" IQ by foregoing lossless compression and going for mild compression - maybe CRF 10 on X264 and B44 on EXR. For the latter, most finishing software have native export functions (and Premiere Pro with ProEXR), while Hi444PP will have you go through command lines via Debugmode Frameserver, which only works on Windows. Or you will have to go through an intermediate uncompressed file or DPX, which can be to the tune of 1 GB / second. If you want speed, Cineform AVI is pretty good and totally unrestricted, i.e. you could even encode 8K @ 120 fps.

The future standard is 3840x2160. However, DCI claims 4096x2160 (1.89:1). Think of 3840x2160 as the new 1080p (for computers and television) and 4096x2160 as the new 2K (for theaters).
