I understand all of that except why it is crucial? They are still going to look good, just not AS good, but it won't be a "wow that looks like crap" jarring difference.

I am willing to pay more for a higher-resolution screen, as long as I have content to truly fill it. If you buy an 8K TV, 99% of all movies ever made will not fill it, and will NOT take advantage of its extra resolution.

I'm all for pushing boundaries, but from my limited knowledge, with current technologies, I think shooting in low light in 8k would be a challenge. Very, very small pixels to gather light!
