Hey I was wandering what my sequence settings should be for editing 4k footage in Final Cut 6, I shot at 24fps but the HD sequence settings only allow 23.98, which I believe is throwing off the audio that was recorded on a DAT. After about 2 minutes you can tell that the audio is off from the picture. Any bright ideas? Thanks!

you should just be able to drop your footage into the timeline and FCS will change the settings to match. as for audio, how did you record it?

We recorded the audio on a 6 track mixer at 24fps. The files were recorded onto mini DVD-Rs in WAV file format. The strange thing is that the audio synchs w/o problem to our night vision footage, shot on a Sony handicam.

I don't think the FCP timeline (or sequence) settings changed to match the RED footage settings, since I have to render the video but not the audio in the timeline. The editing timebase setting for the sequence is locked at 23.98.

are editing in safe or unlimited?
shouldn't have to render...

try a new project and just drop the footage into the timeline?

I shot at 24fps but the HD sequence settings only allow 23.98,

FCP allows you to define your own sequence preset and you can define custom settings. In Audio/Video settings copy the HDV/DVCPROHD settings and change the editing time base to 24.

But do I want to be using DVCPROHD settings for this footage? And what settings should I export at, if I wanted to make an HD DVD or a Blueray?
