  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

4k 4 week old

Trey, very cool! I have a 6 week old, and I'm about to break out the R1 to get some 4K memories of him. My daughter who was born a couple of months before I got the R1 has had her life well documented in 4K. I've told Jim, if the only stuff I ever shot with the R1 was of my kids, it would still be worth the investment. My HDV footage just doesn't hold up very well. The GH2 and iPhone capture some spontaneous moments these days, but for those times when I can film with the Red, priceless.

Very Cute Baby!

Very Cute Baby!

As you can see in my avatar, that is my monster, lots of fun congrats on your baby.

I must confess I am one of the the 'soccer dad' members that is frequently referenced (not in a positive light) on the forum so I keep a low profile. I use the camera almost exclusively to document my children as a day will come where future proof high res footage will be like gold dust. Great movie.

I see the beginnings of a baby thread sticky! I was originally going to say sticky baby thread, but that would not be very nice. Being able to capture memories of our loved ones in the best quality imaginable trumps capturing make believe any day! But only by a little :) Lovely footage guys!

Sure, and thanks folks. I shot it in 4k, with a canon 24-70 2.8 wide open. You will notice a bit of focus spasms here and there because I was also testing out my Oconnor o focus. The tracking shot was on a cine slider, but as I was alone, that didn't work out too well at a 2.8. iOS was 250 and I did put a little mini panel pro on her as well. 1 light on red cine x, but not really much grading. I pushed it a tad just to give it a more innocent look. I personally am not a fan on squashing blacks that is so popular. Other than that just some Miles Davis. Thanks for the replies,
trey

Awesome!

Here's what you get in a few more months: http://nattress.com/Movies/ColetteFirstSteps.mov remember to catch their first steps in 4k!

Graeme

I wanted to hear sound so bad! To hear voices of mum and dad encouraging there daughters first steps...

Graeme, Do us all a favour mate (including yourself) Get us some mini mics for our EPICs.. or build them into it... Just for magic moments like these. :))))

Made me flash back to when my kids took there first steps.... and I did not have a spare DV tape at hand. DV ... that word prefix just made me feel old.

It was older sister encouraging her on...
