  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

4k 2:1 Redcode36: are NO CF cards good enough??

I kinda like it this way. Danger at every turn.
Jim

I'm not sure I see it that way. Adrenline every turn is the way of gods but so is attention to detail and knocking off the last 1%. You need to focus on both and at the moment you're not. Red is a brash new innovative company with a promising product. It's not an enduring company that will a household name because to be great it's needs to give people what they want and not what you want (respect). The next step up is pretty easy, it ain't sexy or dangerous but delivers all the way! That last 1% that really puts a smile on people faces is about a DVD that guides me throught every process, work flow, common cinematography procedures with Red, exploded parts view and so forth... I pick up the phone and someone solves my issue right then, I go to a web site to see when my Red, accessory will ship. Anything broken/missing/needed is shipped in 6 hours because servicing the guys properly who bought in the first month is far better than giving cameras to the guys in the 9th month a month sooner. All this stuff and a bucket more, enables me to go out and work with confidence as a professional (cough).
I hope you've got some guys around you that tell you your pigheaded and wrong on some of this and I hope you listen to them.

Dang Dave,

You don't think you're being a tad harsh? Wouldn't you say the camera HAS been modified extensively to accommodate the wishes of its users? Granted, Jim does have a way of answering, or not answering direct questions that can be a little annoying, but whatever. I really believe they're doing their best.

Dave,

The fact that you can have this direct dialog with the owner/leader/visionary of this business trumps the last 1%. There is not an item you mentioned that isn't desirable or wanted (on both sides), but the communication offered by this extraordinary approach in the marketing of a brand is immeasurable, both from the perspective of product improvement and benefit to the customer. Rest assured, Jim is not surrounded by "yes" men; although I don't think any of us have called him pigheaded, there have been other adjectives thrown around ;-)

There have been times when my conservative nature has caused me to question some of Jim's decisions, bringing a beta product to market before it is feature complete and still suffering the pains of new birth is one. But with every day and every success story, I am able to see the genius of what he has created. His experience and his gut instincts lead him down a path that none of us, in my humble opinion, would have the courage, passion or wisdom to pursue. And know, too, that the last 1% is considered very important around here as well, and like the success of the camera will come with each day.
