Maybe this has been up before, I made a search but didn't come up with anything. The 48v feed to condenser microphones is shut of when power cycling, is this done for a reason or is it something that will be fixed in the future. I find it very annoying when I have to turn it on for my camera mic every time I reboot my camera.

Yes, its done for a reason.

You can make a shortcut to the Phantom enable menu though. Go to it, and then press and hold down the A, B or C keys to the left of the rear LCD screen.

Then to go back there at any time, press that A, B or C key.

I'm just guessing but I think it would be to prevent someone from plugging a self powered mic into a powered input by mistake.

If someone removes the microphone and the power is still on the electronics can get, well, cranky. As mentioned above, shoving phantom into something that doesn't need it (AT822 can be damaged from phantom) usually degrades the signal or worse..

Seems Red is the only camera that makes you turn on the phantom power again after restarts.

Build 18 Beta listed changes includes:-

"Modified Phantom Power logic to remain enabled across power cycles"

Is this change not going to be included in future builds?

It's supposed to be, but they are having real difficulty with it for some reason. AFAIK the logic is there, and the indicator "tick" happens, but it's just not latching the actual power.

It's a seriously annoying bug, and causes real problems in a lot of types of shooting.

Turns out to be a logic problem, this issue will be fixed in the release version of Build 20.

Also sent you guys a P.M.

Check out the RED support site. We just posted Beta Build 20 Version 20.0.2.

This should resolve this Phantom Power issue.

Thanks for your answer Stuart, I appreciate it.
I rent the cam. Wether with or without me I try to avoid anybody being a tester on a shoot.
Sorry, I am just looking for little less Beta...

Thing to do is put 48v on a physical switch.....just like other prosumer cameras....
