I've never gotten a clear answer on this. When we shoot 24p the timebase is 23.98 (23.976), what is the correct timebase for shooting 48p? And would it be any different if I was planning on shooting 48p to edit on a 24p timeline and have the additional frames for slowdown?

Thanks guys. This always bothered me.

Not positive, but I would assume this is drop frame vs non drop frame. So if your using drop frame, just double the dropped frames.

Nothing to d with drop frame... we don't even offer that as an option, it's a broadcast tiimecode solution, not a production timecode solution.

If you are shooting 2 x over speed for a 23.98 ( or 24.00 ) project, leave the PROJECT FRAME RATE at 23.98 ( or 24.00 ) and set the Varispeed to 48 fps. But if you are shooting a true 48 fps project, the set the PROJECT FRAME RATE to 47.96 ( or 48.00 )

I guess the 47.96 figure is what I was looking for. Final output and edit would all be in 23.98. But I would like to shoot parts at 48fps, plop it down on my 23.98 timeline, and go into slomo here and there. I know I will need to keep my shutter speed a little higher than normal for this. Every other frame would just be tossed out on my timeline while running realtime no?
