Before you get the gimbals like Movi, Besteadi or what ever it is, you need to aware of how heavy it is.

Unlike steadicam, there isn't a such a solution for arm vest or Easy rig to support this monstrous heavy camera rig.

I have used Movi two times, and I made one myself (DIY), but I always wonder there is any small camera gimbals for my nex5n or nex7 for practice or HD wanted client.

My girl friend(from shanghai) says chiense would have everything in a chinese ebay called TaoBao and I found a gimbal there.

Total cost of $420 USD, I got 3.7 volt batteries like Triple AAA battery($40- two sets of three).

First impression: It doesn't look DIY. It isn't bullet proved solid, but it's pretty strong enough for what I paid for ($380)

Operating this gimbal is only Follow mode, which you could improve the system your self with radio transmitter and its receiver. (Operating is way easier, because this gimbal is specifically designed for NEX5N, A6000, NEX6 + 16mm 2.8 only, in other words you can't put any other lenses)
Once you calibrate the gimbal board, balancing gimbal takes just 2 sec(Again, this gimbal is designed for specific camera and its lens like DJI gimbal)

The best thing of this gimbal is god damn light. Including the nex5n + 16mm 2.8 and gimbal is lighter than Canon 5d mk3 + 24-70(WTF?) I guess, because the batteries are pretty light and most of structures are made of Carbon.

I guess, I would rather show you guys the footages instead of explain this with my short english.

These are shot by NEX5N 60FPS with auto focus and Program mode.

There are no warp stabilization, nor colors aren't graded.

Some of the shots have slowed downed.

P.S: I THINK, THIS IS THE BEST $420 I have ever used. It's definitely not as good as MOVI, BESTEADI, DJI RONIN. But, it's lighter, cheaper, furthermore, easy to balance. If you were looking for fun stuff like me I strongly recommend you this one.
Again, It's not the best, but it works in sudden circumstances like tilt, panning, dolly in(you need to use skate board or roller blading)

I really hope that I could put my wide angle lens converter on the 16mm 2.8, but the balance will be off.

Nevertheless, it was not that bad in my opinion, just use this gimbal for fun+ some stock footages + framing practice purpose, its just perfect.

Total cost including camera.

Nex5n (Ebay: $250?)

16mm 2.8 (Ebay: 200)

Gimbal ($400)

Batteries (Gimbal batteries $40), Nex 5n Batteries: $60

$910

I think I would rather buy this set instead of buying Glide cam + 5D.

Minu,

I believe your thread is mis-placed. The gimbal you are speaking of is not suitable for any of the RED cameras, so being placed in a RED discussion thread is questionable.

Perhaps the testimonial you are giving would be of more relevance to the audience at http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/forum.php
Owned by the same folks that operate this one - just a bit more targeted to those using some of the cameras you are speaking of..
