Here are some shots from a feature I'm shooting now. Using Zeiss ZF glass on this. Most of the movie is doc style with a little bit of 4th wall breaking so I'm trying to keep it natural looking but still lit slightly on the non-interview parts.

hey man looks like you guys are doing good work over there. Your images are looking a little flat though. Easily fixed in post, here's a two second fix of a couple of your shots.

I agree, the images look very flat. Like they were straight out of REDAlert with no adjustments. But they look very good as far as the composition of the shots.

Thanks. I just threw a small curve on them last night to post but since the movie is like a mockumentary I think I'm going a little flat. I love high contrast shots and do it all the time with stronger curves to bring the color and contrast out but this time I'm going with less. The guy at the table with the envelope is the film maker and in that shot he turned the camera on himself to record him opening it. The sequence has him turning on the camera and positioning it before he sits down. Once in a while we fall out of doc mode and it looks more like a movie like the shots of the guy with the tubes in his nose and the sex scene. The sex scene is a flash back to earlier times so I wanted to give the impression of maybe being lit by a tons of candles but not look exactly like it was because we were faking the location so it needed a balance.
All the hand held stuff I made look as natural and real as I could like the first shot and the "interview" shots like the second and third were to look like if someone was shooting interviews.
The story is about religious writings called the 3rd Testament, a secret society and a missing husband.

Looks good Spike. Some hot highlights in a couple of the shots, but like the composition. I'm posting a couple of quick corrected shots just to see how they appear in Safari.

Thanks.
Yeah, the hot spots in the white hairs I saw with the false color but I think the R3D may still have the info. For some reason my photoshop stopped letting me save straight to jpeg and have to save to png first then to jpeg so they are getting double compressed. You can see the posterizing in the gradients on some shots. I will try to re-save out to TGA files this time and then to jpeg and see what happens tomorrow. I do love the bottom shot grading and the other grading JN posted mos def but I'm going to try with the milky blacks at first. I can always fall back on trusty crushing if I don't like it in the end. When I get some more free time to sit I want to really push the image around and see what I get. I do like seeing what other people come up with though because sometimes you get so caught up on something you can't see past your own nose.

Didn't think people would fix some of the grabs, but I just had to:

Anyway, nice shots man.

Shots from last week came out nice. Shooting thru CTO on the very top shot came out sweet! Gotta use what's available, huh? :) Really like the look.

What a strange feeling. I just got back and we're already wrapped! If it makes you feel better I felt so guilty in Hawaii chillin' on the beach while you were filming in the slush.
