I posited previously that 3K should be the next standard, better than 2K but not as hardware heavy as 4k.

I'd like to hear from those familiar with using 3K footage, preferably all the way to film out. Has this been better/worse than other options?

Seeing how Scarlett will be producing a lot of new 3K frames, any tips would be useful.

In post on a job we shot last week in 3k 29.97fps. From redrushes directly down to 640x480 prores. Then worked into 720x480 sequences in FCP. It's an SD 4x3 finish. I have no film out experence.

RED One 3k

RED One 3k

more K = better to most people so I doubt it will happen that way. Quad HD is cool to me though because it downscales so easily to 1080P HD.
