I'll start my first feature (we got 4 red one) next month as red set supervisor, data manager, pre colorist, we will finish on Scratch.
I'm very interested in 3cp software (thanks Kaku) http://3cp.gammadensity.com/products/cccp.php it seems they have developed a pretty good system for red footage.
Did someone try it? How does it work?
Thanks.

I'll know when it arrives hopefully this week ;).

Yes, I've used it. I was a beta tester for the software and it has come a long way since I first saw it. For work as a " red set supervisor, data manager, pre colorist" it will perform flawlessly, the reports and presets out to scratch will make things a breeze for the color timing session. Also, cc'd dailies are so nice to have working in the background while you're doing your coloring thing.

What kind of system are you going to put it on? If it's a laptop without an external monitor, you'll have to make sure that when you do monitor calibration, you follow the steps but more importantly make the chart look right (they can send you a digital version to refer to) because the calibration is really meant to be set up on an external monitor, mainly an apple cinema display.

Other than that, it works quite well and I'm very pleased with it. I was skeptical before I started testing, and was a big fan of the Apple Color workflow. But now I don't want to shoot RED footage without the aid of 3cP, all my RED workflow steps going on in one program.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the info Tim. They bought a new macbook pro and the new apple cinema display and I've got a i1 display 2 to calibrate it.

Apple Cinema Display means it is 8-bit.

If that is the case, I wonder how it would work with MXO with Sony BVM-D24.

Yes, I think that Matrox MXO is supported, I know they have support for most 3rd party cards (kona, etc.) but I can double check to see if MXO is on the list.

You can use 2 monitors, so you could go with the Sony and an apple display both.

Good to know it supports third party video output, too. These type of apps usually supports only desktop output, so I was afraid.

MXO probably just work as is anyway because it has the desktop mode.

I've emailed G&D and asked this question but got no reply, so I thought I'd post here too. The demo version on their web site calls itself a preview of the RED version. I assume that means that the currently shipping version does not support R3D files. Is that correct? Kaku Ito, have you received your copy yet? If so does it work with R3D files?

Thanks

Nick, I sent you a PM.
