1. SCHEDULE:

As of September 19, 2008, our current schedule is on track. Remember, this is an estimate, a best guess. It is not a guarantee.

Reservation holders #3151-3400 were contacted Monday, September 15th, with their first email.Shipping is in the order of payments received. We have said from the beginning that the delivery dates are not guaranteed and to not make plans until you have cameras in hand. There is no group on the planet trying harder to pull this off than we are. Please understand and bear with us. As any person who has received their camera will tell you; we are worth the wait.

And now that the moment is here and most of my money has been sent, I'm nervous and excited. There's a lot to learn and lots of films to make.

Hey Bodhi,

All I can say is you won't be disappointed. Every day for the last month has been Christmas Day for me!

Enjoy!

Thanks for the good news Jim. I'm still finalising the package. A few extra bills and the drop in the Aussie dollar has set me back. I was looking at getting the Red 18-50 and then building up a set of lenses but I am now considering Nikon adapter and lenses. What package did you end up going ahead with and would you make any recommendations.

Martin, I've waited too long already. Good luck finding someone.

Hey Bodhi,

I have the standard stuff, base production pack, handles, rods, cheeseplate etc.

For lenses I have the 18-50 and Pelang 8mm. Very happy with them but I've got to say, last night I had a few Red Buds around (4 cams, 20 lenses, 2 matte boxes, jibs, lights, total Red orgy!) and we had the PL and NIKON side by side and I have to say I was massively impressed with the Nikon stuff. Really warm and round, 50mm 1.8 lens for $100. Just crazy.

Makes me really tempted to go down the Nikon route.

I already have a full set of beautiful Canon FD primes with the KMUSE RED mount, but I'm afraid to put it on for warranty issues...

In a perfect world P&S will resolve their issues with the IMS and I could put any lens in the world on!

All good, all beautiful images, just endless options.

Jim

I remember as a kid at Christmas we'd all show off our new bikes to each other. A few years on, and its our new REDS. I'm leaning more towards the Nikons and after your post, I just might take the plunge. With my current budget every dollar counts.

All I can say is the guys who are 100% Nikon are not disappointed and have crazy fast glass us PL guys can only dream of.

The only thing is that the tiny Nikons do look a bit silly in on the gorgeous RED. Be sure to buy a matte box to cover it up! :)

If you're on the fence, it's a great way to go while you make up your mind. For $1000-$1500 you would well and truly be set up, including mount. RED will even deliver it with the mount installed if you ask.

All the best,

Jim

i agree, i just completed my set of nikons in anticipation of the arrival of red. from 18mm (8mm on the way) all the way up to 800mm

the 50mm 1.8 i just got is gonna look crazy on the front of red. Great for a lightweight system hehe!!!!!

What about a pancake lens or pinhole on the front - nice.
