300mm VS 300mm 'PRO' Lens ?

[Jason Wingrove]

In the current delivery schedule they say the 300mm imperial is shipping but the 300mm pro is on backorder? Anyone fill me in on the difference as I cant see any different versions listed in the store etc?

I believe the "Pro" is the newly redesigned version that is in line with the primes and the 18-85.

Thanks Jeremy.. can you enlighten me as to what "in line" with the primes etc means?

From what I understand, it just means that it has the same exterior "look" as the new primes. I don't think the lens itself has changed. I asked the same question of my rep when I was considering the 300mm. I'd probably wait for the redesign as the original may not hold resell value due to misconceptions and misunderstandings over the change.

The 300 Pro looked very different that the original 300mm....much smaller too.
Same build as the new 18-85.
