What were RED thinking when they designed the 300mm RPP? That it's okay to hang that big hunk of metal off of the camera without supporting it?

So - I'm looking for a support bracket for the 300mm RPP. Does anyone know if someone makes one specifically for that lens - something that kinda matches the lens in terms of looks - I don't want to throw some random eye-poop on that beautiful piece of glass ;-)

They did this with the 18-85 AND the 300mm RPP. Totally boggles the mind.

I'm using the Zacuto lens support. Works well. Kinda expensive.. Before that, I used a piece of crap I hacked together out of a universal mount, a bolt, nut, couple washers and some 1/8" steel strap bent to cradle the lense with a piece of rubber strap glued in the cradle so as not to mess up the lens. It was ugly, but worked just as good. It was "eye poop" and no one wanted to use it with the lens so I opted for the Zacuto.

I have the Zacuto lens support too. I might recommend taping the actual part that touches the lens because it can scratch a little; metal on metal.

We use one of the Universal Mounts from Red with about a two inch bolt through it. Works like a charm. Put some black felt on the bolt head (so it won't mar the lens) and screw it down from the top all the way, then mount the lens and back the screw out until it contacts the lens barrel and you feel it supporting the weight. Works very well. Looks good.
