300mm delivered with filter ???

[oliver imfeld]

i just got back my 300mm and the person in question sweared they didn't use it; as i prep another shoot, i just found a 43mm "Japan Normal" in the filter slot; now i cannot remember having seen it there; does anybody know if the 300mm comes with it when delivered by Red ?
thx, oliver

Nope, no filter.

Brent, I've opened several of the old-style RED 300mm lenses for clients fresh out of the box and they all had a clear filter mounted in the internal 43mm slot. Are you saying that this is not the case with the Pro 300mm?

[Brent Carter]

I stand corrected, just checked a RP 300mm and there is a clear filter in there. Brain fart, sorry!

Indeed, if it shipped without a clear filter all the focus marks would be off once you put a filter in!

Yep! Always keep a filter in the tray. The clear glass one that ships with the lens is for when you don't need to use a filter.
