30 FPS Too fast for CF?

Got a call from a client who is trying to shoot 30 fps at 4k 2:1 on to a Red CF card. The project frame rate is 29.97. They can't get the card to format, and are getting a message to the effect that the speed is to fast for the record media. Any ideas?

Ask them to change the Redcode version to lower bitrate – it'll still be fine.

No, the operations guide says 25fps is the maximum when shooting on CF. For 29.97fps you need the harddisk.

If I remember well, you can shoot 29.97fps to CF with build 13, but then you loose the external monitoring option.
