  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

3 to 5 business days ? bullshit

Are you dealing via REDEurope?

Have you tried mailing your BS rep? From personal experience, I've always had a reply within a working day, often faster (I'm in the UK).

Although they have stated that they are working towards improving, the Red store is painfully inefficient and slow. Even for small items that are listed as in stock, it still takes several business days for the item to leave the Red store for delivery.

Oliver,

The website reflects US stock not REL, we have our web team working on the REL site to show REL stock so you will be better informed when you place orders through the web. You can also always reach out to your Bomb Squad Rep for more information. REL will be receiving units shortly.

Julio,

There have been huge improvements made to the current ordering process, and we are continuity making adjustments to make it even better.

Best Regards,

Keegan

Really that does suck but we all feel your pain. Everyone of us has dealt with the same issue. I posted a thread and similar to this yesterday but I guess I didn't have enough expletives for anybody to reply, lol.

Oliver,

Units are in route to REL, should be hitting REL's dock in the next day or so. Also I check our archive when you placed your order on June 12th, our website reflected they were backorder and had an estimate of 2-3 weeks.

Thank you for your feedback.

shortly ? thats what my BS said 10 days ago, not good enough guys, really not !

Best Regards,

Keegan

I bought a 64gb Redmag and had it sent 2-day shipping -- and it didnt even go out for at least 2 days.

Man I joined this forum late last year ....to see the vast improvements in delivery times has been astounding, even in my limited time here.

People now complaining about delivery times of days not months truly things have improved.

I'm not one to bitch or whine, and I don't know what constraints RDC are working under in their order process, but the 3-5 business days is a gripe for me too. My orders tend to fall into two categories; future planned purchases, where I'm not too fussy if it takes a couple of weeks or more to show up... and the rest, which I often need *yesterday*!

Even crappy bottom feeder ebay sellers of all kinds of stuff make a point of promising to ship the item the same day payment is received; shame RDC don't seem to have figured out how to streamline their order processing yet. BS reps are great and can bend over backwards in an emergency (props to Dan Baum who figured out how to get a Bomb EVF to me within 18 hours when I suffered a gear accident on location, although ultimately I solved the problem by a different method) but something faster than 3-5 business days shouldn't have to be exceptional...

Hi Michael,

Just to confirm you received it within 4 days of ordering, is that correct? Please remember when you place any order the estimate is 3-5 days to process before it ships so when you are selecting your shipping its based on when you want to receive the product after its been processed. Again to reiterate we are always improving and looking for ways to be better.

We are working on the 3-5 days, there is a lot of factors that we have to take into consideration. We are getting there.

I hope you all are working on the delay between ordering and shipping. In the last 2 weeks i have ordered over 100 grand worth of equipment, and all of it is here at my house or I have a tracking number, and it is arriving on Thursday.... That is except for my RED gear. This is my 7th order with RED.com and I have learned to always order it priority overnight, because when it finally is ready to ship, BAM it's here the next day, it's like microwave popcorn there at the end. Mike you are right though, it helps to order items way before we need them, although it's more likely that we will just order the products when we have the cash, lol.

One time I needed a new steadicam gimbal, my old one died after too many movies with BL4s. I called MKV in the UK and said I needed one soon. I gave them my credit card number, and an address. 2 days later it showed up (In the US from the UK). In plenty of time for the movie I needed it for. A month later, I got a phone call from them explaining that my credit card had been denied, at the time of purchase, and that we needed to settle the tab. I said, " You sent me a $5k thing overnight via fedex, when the credit card company said it was no good?" They said, " You said you needed it, and we figured we'd work it out. " That's how customer service works.

I was in Cairo Egypt. We did shot with an arri SR at 75 fps. After that shot, the mirror stopped half open. I called Arri Blauvelt, and explained my problem. They put me on the phone with a tech. I took the camera apart, reset the timing on the belt, as per the guys instructions (that's why you should always have good tools) and shot for another 4 weeks. When the guy told me to take the front of the camera off (the part with the lens mount), I said, " Can't I fuck up the flange focal distance?" He said, " Only if you are a complete asshole."

I once had a CP GZMO that I had converted to super 16. I got it back the day before the shoot. I put a battery in it and turned it on. Blew the fuse. I had another one. Same thing. Now I am out of fuses and I have to shoot in the AM. Cinema products is out of business. I called Clairmont. I explained what was going on. They said they would call me back. They put me on the phone with the guy who designed the electronics for that camera, and he walked me through completely dissembling the camera till I found the short.

That, is what we want. A guy at Red who will talk me through how to swap out boards on my working epic, and the one that got hit by gama rays, to make sure I get the sunris4 over the temple of the sun at Tiwanaku in Bolivia after our 3 day trek.

I love this company, I really do. That's the level of customer service we need, and if we are old pro's (or at least old hacks), that's what we expect.

Disclamer, I just worked like a jilion Hours on a peice of shit cable show, and I may not be n my right mind.

Cheers, and thanks,

Nick

That, is customer service. I think the original idea of the bomb squad was this kind of stuff, but it became overwhelmed with idiots asking where the auto focus button is or why they can't shoot 3d with no additional AKS.

You think 3-5 days is bad i've had to wait an entire lifetime for a camera this good.
