  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

3 light LED kit recommendations?

Anyone tried the Dedo DLED7 turbo? 90Watt and Bi-Color Fresnel spots, shot two days with 280wh v-mounts on them and was blown away by the color and quality of light. Does anyone know something similar good? Unfortunately Dedos are a bit pricy, around 7000$ for a 3 set bi-color kit.

Practilite 602 bi-color LED fresnel lights are really similar to DLED7 Turbos at about half the price for 3 light kit.
Nice even beam spread and the barn doors truly cut the light when needed. The build quality is the best there can be.
Those are also remote controllable via iPhone or the likes.
If I'm not mistaken Practilite 602s are used on location in reality programming like America Got Talent, X-Factor and so on.

I'think you can find those at most major retailers.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I've been looking into LED's, and specifically RGB LED's, for an upcoming project and stumbled across this thread.

I noticed that no one mentioned kino selects. Is there a reason to avoid them?

Not sure your specific needs but I picked up 3 of the new Hive Wasp 100-C RGBw LEDs and they have been prefect for my work (corporate stuff/interviews). Output is the same as the Litepanels Astra Bi-Color but much smaller with a single point source.

check the fiilex or the aputure, for good budget and ability to modify the light. Also the Stella (pro 5000 or 7000) look pretty amazing, but more expensive. Files has a couple of 3 lights kits that are very nice and portable, and you can use them a bunch on small things. They have a fresnel lens you can attach to the front and makes them much more punchier.

Own a set of Aputure LS1 Lightstorms that work fantastically. Also you can add a fresnel to the C120D for only $60, or use the standard Bowens mount. Great lights!
