  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

3 Epic Model cams are selling now, my friend says.. not RED off ocurse

Epic Fail

everyone trying to bank off of the name "Epic" and it's popularity? hehe, despite the name, i could've used this a year ago haha:-P

Oh, my...

That's a trademark infringement if I've ever seen one. Anyway, for a compact HD helmet-cam, I'm not impressed. The GoPro one and a few others out there seem better for the same money.

I doubt it would be infringement unless they start using "Epic" in some combination with the word "Red."

A search of the USPTO shows 902 trademarks with "Epic" in the name.

I believe the one owned by Red, is likely "Red Epic: IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: Digital cinema camera systems and accessories, sold individually or as a unit, comprised of, cameras, camera lenses, flash memory cards, electronic memories, hard drives for video recorders, video monitors and flat panel display screens, all for use in the creation, storage, delivery, manipulation, recording, playback or viewing of video, music, graphics, photos, audio, text, and multimedia data. FIRST USE: 20100129. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 20100129"

Yeah, you're probably right....

The other is ContourHD. Only know because I just finished a bunch of work for it. :D

Let us not forget that "epic" is pretty much the go-to adjective choice for almost everything described by anyone under 30 these days. An exceedingly popular word is going to find its way into a huge amount of branding.

Is it just me or does mainstream shit copy RED? Like all these movies with the name "RED" in them started coming out after RED One's release. (Even a lyric in lady gaga's song).

Or is it a matter of seeing the newly familiar..

Remember red was forbidden nearly half a century in the free world...

Hehe, I think a bit of both, but lots of RED branded items and named programs and projects were out there before RED, but now we know RED so we see RED every were hehe.

Just like any number, car model etc. once you pin point at something you see it every were, not that was not there before, just tat now you noticed ;)

But yes, lots of people and companies out there are in deed copying form RED and or the EPIC name, and or naming a camera after a Woman ;), I don't ever recall per example a certain known camera company ever calling their camera by a Female name, just numbers ;)
