Good day . We shoot yesterday big footage ,
all day in deferent location . Last location was at the evening . We
found very nice place out of city and make nice shoot.
Sow problem is that last footage is damaged . I can not play back QT
can not play in RED ALERT and REDCINE , can not render out from RED
ALERT . We check footage on set but it was to late , sun gone's .
Is it possible to repair this footage , or better to make same
shoot tomorrow :)
B16 , 3.1.15 4K 2:1 :( . Any ideas .
Thanks.

I'd just go back and shoot tomorrow. And when you do, try 4K 2:1, 24fps, RC28, CF card.

You just mentioned 4K, 2:1. That doesn't guarantee safety. I think having all of your settings "safest" might help - 24fps, RC28, CF card?

Footage definitely might be recoverable but getting anything beyond the first 2-3 seconds might be tricky.

Ok if you now , can red team work with my footage or they don't care about it ?

They care very much, I'm sure. Send them a link to the file, camera .LOG file, etc. Did the camera show any errors while shooting, etc? It may help.

I am just saying that your fastest way to get your footage back is to just go and shoot it again.

In computer programming a monumental quick fix is if it gets sorted out in a week. Also, what if they figure out that the camera just didn't record data properly after that. Maybe it's a physical error with the drive, etc.

BTW, what exact settings did you use? FPS? Redcode28 or RedCode36? CF or hard drive?

Again, try 4K, 2:1, 24fps, RC28, CF card...

No i can open all files. But after 2-3 seconds QT is chashed , RED CINE RED ALERT same .Can i do it with RedLine . ?

Sounds like an error I've gotten a few times.

Try rendering in redline and see how far you get. If it starts to say Kakadu Core Error at some point and also says something about open file in resiliant mode, then we have the same problem.

Just sent a support ticket to Red about it so if you get the same error then I'll let you know what Red's response is.

A solution to this problem is so far to render in redline up until the frames that are faulty. Then render the rest. Combine in FCP and sync sound. You'll loose about 5 frames or so but not the whole clip.

Biba, I would try re-copying all the data from the original media back to the computer from scratch. Or else, try it on a different computer. I mean, if the original media is still available.

I once had trouble playing files, not exactly as you describe, but with similar symptoms and the only thing that cured it was to copy everything again to the host computer (put it on a different folder, just to be on the safe side). After doing that, it all opened up perfectly and worked just fine.

May be worth the try in you case.

A couple of questions

Are all the clips on the card that you thought you shot?
Did you lose power or pull the card without ejecting or while ejecting?
Did you lose power/connection to the card reader on the pc side at any time?
What card reader are you using?

Things to try:
copy again with a different card reader and cable.
run disk utilities check disk or the equivalent on a pc.
do not copy anything to the card itself.
run redline to recover segments. when it stops, start redline again
skipping one frame until it starts again.
if you're stuck, contact support and send the card in and I'll see what I can pull off it.

If you can upload a clip and log file for us, we can take a look.
I'll PM you with upload instructions.
