Maybe someone else has gone through testing extenders phase... to give some advice. I quickly tested and realized the cheap solutions off eBay don't step up to needed image quality.
I am looking at Century Optics 35mm MKII, Schneider 2x, Optex any other under 2k? I realize that light loss is given and it's not same as having a lens, but... do any work as a 'passible' solution?

Natalie:

I would highly recommend the the I/BE 2x extender or the Duclos 2X extender.

Century is fine also...

Cheers!

We tested loads inc the IBE 2x and in the end went for the new TLS 2x (not the old one)... cheap and the best we used!

Ps the optical design of the lens on the front really can throw things sideways... exit pupal position etc ...ideally the extender would be matched to one specific lens. What is your front taking lens?

Most "cine" extenders out there are rehoused (for PL mount) still camera optics, Century and Optex are Nikon units AFAIK. IBE is most likely a ground up design and I'm not sure about TLS, not familiar with it. They are all good unless damaged. The two things to look for are the clearance that will affect the lens compatibility and making sure they are focused correctly so your zooms remain parfocal with the extender on. I don't think pupil size and location matter much since the 2x easily expands the S35 size image to FF so vignetting is unlikely to be an issue...

What about the Optitek extenders, are they Nikon?
(I have Optitek and TLS as my prime contenders.)
