2K the same as 1080P?

[Andreas Hellebust]

Hi! The topic says it all. Is 2K the same as 1080x1920? (roughly 2 megapixels)

Or is it in fact 8 megapixels (2048x3840)?

[Peter Moretti]

Neither. 2K is 2,048 X 1,152.

2K is not the same as 1080p - which has 1920 pixels horizontally. 2K has 2048

Some 2K formats are -

2048 x 1080 RGB (DCI delivery container)

2048 x 1024 RAW (RED ONE 2:1 record format)

2048 x 1152 RAW (RED ONE 16:9 record format)
