2k proxy not playing smooth any more

Maybe it's a QT version that's the culprit. I'm running 7.5.6.

What's everyone else running and post the machine involved?

I'll bet faster machines really matter. i.e., can't get the same playback from a laptop 2 core as you would on a screaming 8 core with GPU's and RAM taken into account.

Well even though the data rate is higher with ProRes material, the proxy is asking your cpu to play a reference of a reference file, and downsizing the file it actually references (the 4k file) all in real time. It's just more overhead to play back a 2k proxy of a 4k file than it is to just play back a baked 2k prores file.
