Shot over the weekend. 1/192 sec shutter speed, ISO 320, RED 50-150 Zoom, 72 fps.

Note the RED logo on the side window! Sorry for the gamma issue on a Mac. It will look a bit light. But it should be correct on a PC.

50-150mm RED Zoom should be pretty soon... maybe December? It is an incredible lens.

Jim, are these pure pleasure for you to film or are you going to make the most beautiful doc on this race car thing...?

I'm adding more slow-motion to my latest project. :)

Thanks Jim.

This is not very good lighting, nor particularly well shot, but it gives you an idea of what happens when 8000 horsepower is not happy. Again, 2K at 72fps (I actually cropped into the shot quite a bit to get this).

This is a dragster. The driver is in front of all the drama. When this happens in a Funny Car, it happens in the drivers lap.

Jim, really great footage. How heavy is this lens... am I still stuck having to go the B4 HD or to the s16 Canon pl mount zoom route for one man efp or docco work?

I miss the old days when the rails had the engine out front. Nothing more spectacular then watching the blower explode off the engine like a rocket taking off. lol

The 50-150mm RED Zoom weighs under 3 pounds... :-)

Jim this is great news, I am so ready for RED Day and all the RED glass I can get my hands on! Is there any chance you can get one in Gibby's hands for LART? (Dates are Nov. 17-18th)

I know that you are extremely familar w/ non- hard lined EFP shooting... When you are out shooting (one man/one camera), do you ever feel the need to have a s16 or B4 HD zoom for greater mobility? Do you think you (RED) might add something like this in the future? I just think if you guys made a pl mount EFP style powered zoom lens with the build of...

a canon Canon Super 16 Cine Zoom Lens 10.6 to 180mm

or...

the Canon Super 16 Cine Zoom Lens 6.6 to 66mm you would further RED's cause to be THE singular acquisition tool that supports almost any style of shooting for any type of content. Even just 20% off Canons list price would allow you guys to deeply penetrate the EFP/Docco/HD markets (***Addendum***This of course would be for single sensor or s16 film cameras--not 3ccd cameras-- hence the need for pl not a b4 --sorry if I caused confusion). I know these are very complex lenses, I just think you guys would open yourselves up to much greater markets and quell the REDHEAD/Jackleg Boogey man mentality to the people protecting their own legacy investments. Instead you hit them with something that they can benefit greatly from as well... the walls of dissent will fade through consent. I promise you. :nerd:

Sorry for all the question, just dying to shoot with such nice gear (that I own) :-).

Cheers,

And here Jim was worried about rookies messing up focus! ;)

heh heh i was thinking EXACTLY the same thing. I almost crapped myself first time i STOOD beside one of those cars taking off, i couldnt imagine jumping in and crossing my fingers.
