Is anyone else as excited as I am about all the new glass coming out this year, driven by bigger sensors and plenty of competition? How often do we see so many lenses?

Oh, and there's the Zeiss CP.3's, though the CP.2's are so disappointing that I'm not sure I'm that interested in the new line.

I'm very eager to get my hands on many of these and put them through their paces, especially the Cookes, Leicas, and Angenieux Zoom.

Very interesting to see that in all of the NAB lens hype, especially considering much of it is about the Orion anamorphics, No one is interested that P&S Technik announced modern Kowas, available in six focal lengths, for the market price of the old ones..that will illegedily ship earlier than half of the lenses announced. One of the winners in my book for sure.

wow yeah, pretty remarkable how many different options there are this year. The trend is definitely towards more compact and lightweight. With sensors upgrading at such an stunning rate, glass is keeping up at a much slower pace. but its there.

Agreed. Very interested in these new Kowas!!

I know the new Atlas Anamorphics have been mentioned. I happened to be at Keslow camera yesterday and the fine Atlas people came in with a couple of the 65mm prototypes. We threw one on an Alexa and then put one on the lens projector. We were all optimistic about how these lenses are housed and the look. It will be interesting when a full set is avail for about $6000 per lens.

Nice to have more people in the game.

I'm all for it, but I thought that the market was saturated already. Maybe I'm wrong about that! In any case, while some get distracted by new lens sets costing thousands, some of you I notice are doing very well with Canon FD, Leica R and Mamiya 645 lenses, most of which are inexpensive (and surprisingly so).

whats the conclusion?

When I lived in Taiwan there was a small camera shop I frequented for small things like adapter rings and microfiber cloths. The owner told me he was working on designing his own lens, and showed me some MTF charts, asking me what I thought Americans would look for most in an affordable cine lens, etc. Really nice guy who loved talking about lenses, he was the major reason I went to his shop over and over again.

Incredible to see, just a few years later, that 75mm turn into a set, with a name like bokkelux. I had no idea until I saw the NAB video.

That's one of the reasons vintage glass is so popular these days - the other being that the glass is often the new stock. That being said, I'm always excited about more creative options and those that can take advantage of higher resolution, larger image circles, etc.
