  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

2012 the movie

I'd love if the dramatic conflicts and character background were great on Michael Bay movies. That would make the chases and explosions and what not much more fun, because I'd really care about the guy almost blowing to pieces.

That`s the difference between Cameron and Bay - this Shia Labaff guy from Transformers annoymed me so much I wished one of the robots would step on him and stop his single-word performance (how many times did that guy say "no"?)

I never go to a cinema to watch this kind of movie, but when I do I just go there to see how far they pushed the boundaries of vfx this time; which is fine; I never expect anything else because the audience the production is aiming at is 13 year old boys. I've come to accept the fact that the works I am absolutely sure are excellent will only be seen and appreciated by a small group of people; and if this sounds elitist, I don't enjoy this fact one bit, because I'd rather have more people like the great stuff. I remember I thought I didn't like theatre, until I saw two Irish actors and thought it was brilliant. But there were only 7 people in the audience

Few thoughts:

- Impressions of the story are not directed to all the people who worked on the film.

- Strict genre perception by full acceptance of its faults is like saying: "No need for this to evolve ever"

- The fact that its subject is compared with "Large Robots Movie" is sad.

- As movie is exceptionally influential to broader audience, being okay with it's dumbing content in general - especially if it's targeted to children = "I couldn't care less if my children or my children's children are braindead. As long as they are amused".

- Term "Suspension of disbelief" is far too stretched these days

Didn´t watch it yet.
But i believe we all must agreed in one thing:
The end of the world will hapen someday.
This film tries to show it and the fault will be ours no doubt about it.

Yes, but as it doesn`t come like a tsunami which erases all life but creeping slowly, people will go on talking climate issues down like I see each day on all kinds of forums.. :-(

Good "popcorn" film. Enjoyed myself thoroughly! Just take your producer/writer/director hat off, sit down and have a good time.

I thought it was hilarious. one of the funniest movies of the year. super cheesy dialogue
EDIT: "that;s a suicide mission sir" for example
super fun end of the world FX, but the most hilarious scene was the air traffic controller inexplicably deciding to spend the last moments of his life... destruction all around him, trying to stop a plane from taking off... "stop, its not clear, stop!" too funny!

I found it very amusing that Cell Phones never stopped working through out... And how well they worked everywhere; mountains, underground, etc. No matter, the movie was entertaining and worth the 1/2 hour line, $10 tickets, 20 bucks of junk food and the bypass I'm going to have to have for eating that crap :w00t:

Wait a minute. C.A. Allen posts:

"Yet all people say is, F**K Michael Bay.
F**K U Guys."

No moderator "hat" comes out.

Then I QUOTE the guy, suddenly there's a problem?

Lucas Wilson:
"<Moderator Hat On>

With the "F--- You" quotes - everybody play nice... no place for that here.

</Moderator Hat Off> "

So why the double standard?

That post not directly to any red user's but directed to people and critiques who say bad things about good and hardworking guys in the film industry. One way or another directors are artists, they deserve a much better respect for their work. Sorry if u took the post personally.

P/s : should i re-edit the sentence?

If went to cinema, paid the ticket price and watched it, it's not a crap anymore. Well, that's the whole point of making movies. If u paid to watch, it means its really good.

This film did push some boundaries in its script and characters. Most of the Hollywood disaster film usually based around america generally and NYC specifically. But this film starts in India, revolves around California and ends in China. Most disaster movie only includes the american president making decision but in this movie, we have France, Italy and some other world leaders making decision and moving the plot. In some way, disaster movies are now being truly 'international'. You can't do that in a cowboy movie!

Nope. not contradictory.
BTW,plagiarism in filmmaking doesn't cut it.
