  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

2010 World Cup Thread

Terrible call. It should be 2-2 now. But yeah, Kaya, it's good times with karma.

Will the NON GOAL in England vs. Germany lead to replay? I hope not.

Not that it would have made a difference as england were outclassed. :)

[rant]Allow me to be the ass that says, I don't like Dempsey -the coach. Not using Buddle is an idiotic thing to do, IMO. Taking out the guy that needs to redeem himself for a defensive mistake is STUPID, and has a negative emotional impact on the team. However, the main reason why I say this, is that I feel a good coach has to be able to have a impact on the players (while be able to make sound tactical decisions 24/7/365). I did not see the team coming out on the first half with the HUNGER and killer-instinct that the WC requires... Dempsey senior failed to do that.
Of course, I may be wrong because I wasn't in the locker before the games, or at the training sessions leading up to the games, and yes, I most likely sound like a sour-puss, whining, Monday-night-QB, one that should get a life...

...but that is how I feel! I look at him talk and I do NOT see inspirational qualities. ZERO. Am I wrong?

The real problem is that if we want to use an American coach, we need to allow the guy to get experience... I'll stand by him...

...meh, let's just hire an English coach next time if that is what it takes! We had an amazing opportunity to leave a loud and lasting mark on the little kids riding in their 7D vans right now throughout this great country of ours...

OK, OK, I'll stfu now...

Allow me to end on a good note, or SEVERAL:
_ US makes it into the top 16 out of 205 countries that participated
_ We beat Slovenia and Algeria, 3-2 and 2-0, and FIFA can suck it!!
_ Good WC for Donovan!! He will at least be a good 2nd half sub in 2014
_ Dempsey (Jr.) holds promise for 2014!
_ We got the fighting spirit, the one that ain't going away till the ref blows the final whistle... sprint to the finsh![/rant]

I agree Buddle should have started instead of Findley. Also, Clint Dempsey isn't the coaches son, Michael Bradley is, and the coach is Bill Bradley. And I do hope he stays on at least through the next CONCACAF Gold Cup to see how he grows as a coach.

I hated having the 2006 flashback though. Same score and everything! ughh.

I understand Capello's point about how the disallowed goal took the wind out of England's sails, but honestly, if you don't, as a team, have the mental discipline to not fall apart for the entire second half of the game despite a bad call, you're not a good enough team.

Sad way for England to go, but Germany played really well. Looking forward to their next match.

where are my british friends hehe
4:1 for germany

Cüneyt, you mean English friends, the Scots and Welsh would all have been cheering for Germany:)

Anyway, congratulations to Germany, they thoroughly deserved to win. England have been pathetic.

Amazing to think Capello gets $9 million a year to mismanage England when everyman and his dog knows he's playing the wrong system with the wrong players in the wrong positions. What a pig-headed, stubborn twatt he proved to be.

A great coach is a great motivator. A great coach uses that as a catalyse for his team. A great coach makes adjustments at the half to help defend better.

That said, no amount of coaching can make the players play. The players know it well could have already been three nil after before they had a decent chance. What happens is the players know that they are being outclassed, when that happens it takes the very greatest coaches to help his men believe.

Player for player England had the superior team, on paper at least.

Capello had seven players playing out of position and he used a system seen as outmoded in English football. The players looked like they'd never met, let alone understood what they were supposed to do. Capello should resign.

The whole campaign has been a huge disappointment to put it mildly. My son's school team could have given Germany a better game. Never mind, it's only a game...

The referees are SHAMEFUL.

FIFA is SHAMEFUL.

Look what happened to Mexico in the first half. Not to mention England... Incredible...

Another one bites the dust: 3-1 Argentina wins...and the refs keep screwing up. However, I think the Argentinians reaffirmed their win in the end. I mean, regardless of that unforgivable screw-up by the ref, the Argentinian team was obviously superior.

That's what makes this game unique and great ... the lack of cameras. Instant replay decision making etc.
