  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

2010 World Cup Thread

Donovan saving the USA again. Man, I wish we had one more of him on the team.
 
USA's weakness is really being exposed now. I thought we had it covered once Altidore was subbed out. 8-(
 
I'm watching on my Mac Pro using Elgato Eye TV. Elgato released a special version of the software just for the World Cup.

"A special edition of EyeTV 3.4 software is available during the 2010 FIFA World Cup that offers a new feature called the "Vuvuzela Filter". This filter gives you the option to dampen the buzz of vuvuzela horns in the stadium during live TV broadcasts; it can be quickly switched on and off at any time during the game."

Now to tie it up again, at least!
 
Sad way to go. All those missed opportunities... Still, a Ghana win is good for Africa. Would be great to see them make it through to the semis.
 
[rant]Allow me to be the ass that says, I don't like Dempsey -the coach. Not using Buddle is an idiotic thing to do, IMO. Taking out the guy that needs to redeem himself for a defensive mistake is STUPID, and has a negative emotional impact on the team. However, the main reason why I say this, is that I feel a good coach has to be able to have a impact on the players (while be able to make sound tactical decisions 24/7/365). I did not see the team coming out on the first half with the HUNGER and killer-instinct that the WC requires... Dempsey senior failed to do that.
Of course, I may be wrong because I wasn't in the locker before the games, or at the training sessions leading up to the games, and yes, I most likely sound like a sour-puss, whining, Monday-night-QB, one that should get a life...

...but that is how I feel! I look at him talk and I do NOT see inspirational qualities. ZERO. Am I wrong?

The real problem is that if we want to use an American coach, we need to allow the guy to get experience... I'll stand by him...

...meh, let's just hire an English coach next time if that is what it takes! We had an amazing opportunity to leave a loud and lasting mark on the little kids riding in their 7D vans right now throughout this great country of ours...

OK, OK, I'll stfu now...

Allow me to end on a good note, or SEVERAL:
_ US makes it into the top 16 out of 205 countries that participated
_ We beat Slovenia and Algeria, 3-2 and 2-0, and FIFA can suck it!!
_ Good WC for Donovan!! He will at least be a good 2nd half sub in 2014
_ Dempsey (Jr.) holds promise for 2014!
_ We got the fighting spirit, the one that ain't going away till the ref blows the final whistle... sprint to the finsh![/rant]
 
Oh, and one last thing... all ESPN commentators must be FIRED!!!

How the hell are people supposed to like the game if we always put a pair of decomposing corpses behind the mics?

I feel your pain Roberto, but I think you're being a bit harsh. USA were better in the second half of each match - that speaks volumes for the coach and his motivational and tactical skills.

Also, I can't see what appointing an English coach would do - apart from Roy Hodgson there aren't any English coaches with any experience since we've been using French/Spanish and Italian coaches for years.

It's been a good World Cup for the USA and it was great to see so many fans travel down there - really more of you guys should get a passport:)

The best thing the USA can do is keep progressing as they are and of course, start start calling it football!!
