  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

2010 World Cup Thread

My girlfriend and I were so annoyed by the vuvuzela sound that we had a little limerick competition to get rid of the anger.

We just rigged up a graphic EQ in Logic Pro to filter out the sound and most of the harmonics.

You can't get rid of it completely (without making the commentators sound like rubbish) but you can make them a lot quieter (which makes the game actually bearable).

Broadcasters should have gotten the email that Waves sent out to its users (All serious audio people use that) regarding a special filter especially made for that 'noise'.

Yeah, that sound really gets irritating! I guess no loud volumes this year... Guess we'll just haveta wait for 2014

whats up with the french players?
anelka calls his coach son of a bitch...
he was sent home...
evra had a discussion with an assistant coah and the whole! team refused
to train on sunday.
domenech is just too shitty for this team.
common all the players are worth half a billion and they play 0:0 against algeria? ( nothing against algeria, but they are not brasil )

NZ v Italy = 1-all draw!

Staying up to 4am to watch the game was totally worth it... we're all tired but happy and drinking champagne at work right now.

[for those unaware of how significant this is... Italy is ranked 5th in the world and are the current champions with 4 world-cup wins... we are ranked 78th and have only ever qualified for one world cup prior to this (where we did not score any points)]

...and if you ask me, Italy scored thanks to the some questionable reffing. Don't get me wrong, Italy's team is great, but they should've scored on their own merits, not with the help of a seemingly biased ref. New Zealand put up an admirably great fight.

All Whites

All Whites

Quite astonishing, there's a small country down here (probably 25 professional players max, Italia must have hundreds) who are completely delighted.

We have a great relationship with Italy, cemented by the great and friendly sporting rivalry between Prada and Team New Zealand in the Americas Cup regattas. But WOW!

What an great event this cup is turning out to be, if only we could watch it in 4k stereo :-)

In Formula 1 I'm a Ferrari fan (when I really should support McLaren - the team founded by another plucky Kiwi - there's still a stylised one on the nose of every car), but this is an All Whites moment all they way. Nice one.

Agree. Congratulations. It was a fine match even though my Azzurri could not pull out a victory.

I think they need finer play from the aging captain if they are to even qualify.

Forza.

David

It's in the thousands - 3541 professional players.

Truly a great game (referee shenanigans aside) that the stats just don't do justice... I'm amazed NZ managed to fend off as many corners/shots on goal as it did.

Group F is going to be an interesting one to watch.

French or English?

NZ 1 - Italy 1. To put it in perspective, its as if someone who had never built a pro cinema camera decided to develop and produce a revolutionary 4K system and ended up giving the reigning champs (fill in blanks) a run for their money. :sifone:

I'm just about to head onto the pitch in Port Elizabeth for Switzerland v Chile match and my dose of live vuvuzelas for the day...you guys think it's bad at home on the telly -at least you have the choice of turning the sound down! The goalcams and other remote cameras must be looked after for the benefit of the worlds viewers I guess, time to head into the inside of a beehive (that's the closest likeness that I can come up with anyway)...

portugal destroys north korea with a 7:0 win... CR9 is man of the match.

btw. luis fabiano should be banned for 2 games. he scored a goal after using his hand to take advantage.
worst is, when the referee asked him he denied.

brasil disapoint me as a fan.but they win the games.
this is dungas mantra obviously ;)

Cüneyt, let's wait and see until the next match Portugal-Brasil (I am sorry dear reduser fellows but this is the right spelling instead ;-)

We hadn't read the name of my beloved country mentioned yet along this thread, but now nobody cannot ignore Portugal anymore, right?

We made part of the World Cup history today with our 7-0 against the koreans.

I am a proud portuguese with more this page added to our almost 900 years of history as nation, independent country, people and culture who has given to the world the current EU leader LOL but above all, the 2th latin and 6th/7th world language spoken a little bit along the 5 continents (1/2 of South America). BTW, 3rd place nowadays in the FIFA ranking ;)

Portugal anthem during Portugal-England Euro 2004 where we finished as vice-champions:

Man, if I were the N. Korean goalkeeper right now, I'd be claiming political asylum. Not much more the poor guy could have done against most of those shots, but I can't imagine that Dear Leader Kim is going to be too pleased that this is how the first live sports telecast in N. Korea went down.

Spain scored 1 on Honduras in the first half.
I'm holding out hope that Honduras will pull through.
If Spain wins this one, I'm gonna be drinking tonight, not to celebrate, but to forget.
I put a hex on Spain, I hope it works.
