Hello Red Users-
Though Red Digital Cinema will not be hosting a booth at NAB this year, your Red projects will still be seen throughout the show floor in the 2009 NAB Red Show Reel.
EXHIBITION
We are currently gathering content to create the 4th installment of Red's show reel, which will be mastered and projected in 4K & 2K at various booths from April 20th - 23rd at the Las Vegas Convention Center. We would love to include as much of the RedUser community's work in the reel and are accepting shots from March 16th - March 27th to go into the cut.
THEME
The theme of this Reel is "story telling." Most of the world already knows Red One images are phenomenal, so we are going to focus on the art of the story as well as gorgeous images to convey what Red Users have been up to for the past 18 months.
IMAGES
There are two ways in which you can contribute. One is to deliver up to 5 MOS shots that can be stand-alone or sequenced shots that represent compelling imagery. -The more unique, the better. The second way to is to deliver up to a 10-shot sequence that represents a poignant moment in a longer-form project. This should include synch-sound and could be a single and reverse along with an establishing shot. These moments should be all about emotions; fear, excitement, sadness, humor, etc. -In other words, we want to show off your "Go ahead, make my day..." moment.
ARTISTRY
The main reason we will require R3D sources is because we are making a 4K DCP for large-screen projection. That said, a number of projects have already been onlined and color corrected at various resolutions, aspect ratios, color spaces, and debayer qualities.
Because it is our goal to insure the integrity and artistry already put into these projects is preserved, we wish to best accommodate any unique requests and/or looks that were originally intended for the piece. If you can deliver reference stills from the grade, a Quicktime reference movie and/or grading notes, that will help us match your desired look in 4K.
DELIVERY
Since this Show Reel will be offlined and reconformed to 4K for DCP mastering, we require R3D source files to be delivered on a FireWire drive, USB drive or DVD-R. If you wish to deliver the files on drives, they will be shipped back to you at our expense within 24 hours.
All media should be shipped to:
PlasterCITY Digital Post
6500 Sunset Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA, 90028
Attention: Red Reel 400
RIGHTS
After its debut in Las Vegas, this 4th installment of the Red Reel will be screened around the world as well as encoded for online viewing at various compression schemes. Because of this, it is critical that all reserved rights are waived for inclusion of the reel. A short list of credits will follow the reel, so please include the Production Company and the names of the Producer, Director and DP with your clips for crediting.
Once again, thank you to everyone who has contributed to the past 3 Reels. We are looking forward to involving everyone we can and showcasing your work at NAB and beyond!
