1. It says the sensor is full frame, but I've read that it isn't like stills photography. so, my question is, if I attach a 50mm lens to the scarlet-w will it be a 50mm field of view?

2. As far is payment is concerned, does red have a setup where I can put down the 1k deposit, then pay like 3k every 2 weeks or something, or must I pay the 1k and can only pay the entire balance when camera ships? Im not trying to get the camera to ship before the entire balance is paid, just curious if I can make the balance payment over time or does the remaining balance after the initial 1k deposit have to be one lump sum?

1. This is the deadest horse ever beaten. A 50 is always a 50. This image is going to give you a good idea of how close the s35 sensor is to APC or FF35, which will give you an idea of the FoV. (Spoiler: Pick up a t2i, or a 7d, or an Arri Alexa and that's it what you'll see.)

2. Check out the financing options in the bottom right of the product pages. SoCal Leasing does it, and to my knowledge, that is the only way to do a payment plan, although I might not have the full story.

So it is like a cropped sensor of 1.6 magnification?
Im not looking to finance. Im asking if the option is available to pay the down payment, and say it takes 3 months before my camera is ready, can I pay 3k a month until its time for them to ship my camera, or do they only allow payment as a deposit, and final payment once camera is ready?

Yes, you can have them charge your card and place those funds in your account as RED credit.

This is excactly what I wanted to hear. didnt know there was a deposit account type option. thank you for this info. I tried doing research on it, but there wasn't much info in regards to the actual payment info that I could come across.

I have placed the order for a scarlet-w, and did the $1k deposit. how do I go about adding another 1k, 2k ect. to my red account? I see no options to add more money to the order.

Talk to your rep about charging that same card again to add money to your account. I did this a few weeks ago anticipating Scarlet-W so theoretically there should be no pay issues whenever I get allocated

ok, thank you. i dont have a rep. is there something special that I must do to get one. i just simply placed the order on their online website. no calls or anything.
sorry, I'm really new to this whole red experience.

Sure, but its due when your number is up

You can wire money into your red account as often as you want, but they won't take it till its due (when camera is ready)

Rumor has it, if you have all the money due in your red account, it may unofficially bump you up in the queue a tad to getting it sooner...

...since i hear its not uncommon for some folks to be "surprised" when their camera is ready and need more time to pay the balance owed

How long they get, seems to me flux, but never more then 30 days.

I've gone through 5 different reps... and the first red I got I did the same thing... ordered online.

I heard nothing for about 6 months.

Call them(RED HQ), tell them you don't have a rep, and get the PDF instructions for wiring money into your red account.

That reminds me, I don't have a Rep anymore either (and have purchased four cameras over the years)

I have an order i need to put in soon... so i guess i'll be calling them too to get Rep #6 :willy_nilly:

Nope, its not the same as FF stills camera. FF in redspeak means a similar frame size ratio as a stills camera.

1. It says the sensor is full frame...

5K dragon is basically a tad more narrow then a crop Nikon and wider then a crop Canon

To get closer to (or surpass) a FF still camera, you need an Epic or Full VV

See Phil's Chart Dragon sensor chart:

Basically, I don't want a 14k withdrawl coming from my bank account. I also want to be certain that I don't spend the money, so would like to put money down on the camera over time while I wait in the que so that it's a smaller hit on me every couple weeks or so, instead of waiting 4 months and being hit with a $14,000 payment.
