Sorry ahead of time if this has been asked before.

I am still on the fence about whether to get the fixed lense or the interchangable lense scarlet. My question is: will the/a zoom lense from the fixed camera be availaible to purchase for the interchangable? If I was to purchase a fixed as well as an interchangable would 3d be possible ( I am assuming shooting 3d requires each unit to have the same lense but I am still a noobie, especially when it comes to 3d )

I love the fixed for it's convienience but would like to have lense options as well. It would be ideal if I could just essentially turn my interchangable into the fixed if a project requires more flexibility.

Any thoughts?

No the lens on the fixed is mostly built into the body of the camera. Other than older used 16mm lenses, a new high quality zoom for Scarlet cinema will likely cost more than a fixed lens Scarlet complete camera.

Fixed means fixed. As in no more babies. :)

FWIW, I'm fairly confident that the lens on the fixed Scarlet will be nothing short of awesomeness. This issue has been brought up many times before, and one of the reasons that the lens cannot be made available separately is that it's 'fly-by-wire' functionality is largely made possible due to its integration with the brain/body.

However, with regards to a FULLY MANUAL mini-RED ZOOM...POST#36
