Hi all ,

My RPZ 17-50 has been at RED hq since december 15th....for a cleaning. nothing wrong with the lens, just dust particules between elements.
I want to sell the lens and sent it to RED before to make sure all was in 100% condition.
Communications with my rep, Alan, have been very fast and polite but always with the same answers : "we're working as fast as we can, very sorry about the delays..." He even offered a loaner. Alan really wants to make it good but the result is the same: I don't have my lens back yet.
This is ridiculous. Really.
I sold my RPP set a year ago to get some Cooke Mini S4's. nothing wrong with the RPP's but I realize now I underestimated the value of that move.
I also read Jarred's post about RED slowly getting out of the lens business : That's a blessing to your future customers.

That's a hell of a wait, but look at it this way: would you rather they send it back worse off, or not fixed, or no dust but with more chromatic aberration because the glue didn't set in the right way? Taking a lens apart and putting it back together has to be done damn well, if you get 95% of it right you've made the last 5% impossibly difficult.

At least the work is being done right. I imagine a wide angle zoom combines the two most difficult and precise lens types (when it comes to assembly and mechanical perfection). Also yes, I'm with you, I think Red should work on great cameras. There are so many lens options because Red made the market explode.
