I have just been shooting 13 commercials from Dallas to Texarcana to Orlando on firmware 1.7.1 and now am about to shoot a pilot for NBC/Imagine and I am wondering how people feel about the stability of 2.0.5.....

I would love the playback but need very stable since TV producers are a bit crazy about all this.....

Peter, I'm a big fan of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I assume that the pilot will have VTR right? Means playback is less of an issue.

I'd have a look at any other features to see if they are what you need. Otherwise, maybe stick to 1.7.1

I have used 2.0.5 with good results, but as always YMMV. If you don't have a chance to test the heck out of it, stick with 1.7.1 because you know it works for you.

I actually seem to have less issues with 2.0.5 than with earlier builds, but I don't want to be the one who says "go ahead and upgrade, it'll be fine" and then find out you had issues. But it's working great for me.

I have been shooting on 2.0.8 and it's working great ... I am sure things will come up, the playback is worth it but will cost time so, yeah, it's however you feel most comfortable.

Best hope all is well, look forward to speaking to you again.

I feel decent about it so far. I haven't had any issues or noticed any big quirks with it during testing.

I'm on 2.0.8 now and it's been good so far. 2.0.5 was less problematic for me than any of the 1.x builds. I didn't have issues with 1.7.1 either. Just be sure you review the known issues before you proceed, but its a step forward from the 1.x for sure. And it's a must, IMO, if you will be shooting any 2K as the compression and noise have been noticeably improved.

2.08 caused me some problems today.

It didn't seem to like powering down and switching lenses when using HDR (Although there was some work done on a bug where restarting the cam with HDR active)
Took me 20 minutes to finally get the camera working again (and of course it was at the absolute worse time)

Did have fun shooting tho. :)

I've been using 2.0.5 with really no problems Or support tickets to report.
Lots of running hours and at the most one or two camera restarts.

Make sure the upgrade instructions are followed exactly, for example to side handle and touch lcd monitor are to not to be attached when performing an upgrade.

Two problems I am aware that users have report are playback problems through the bomb evf and system lock up when using HDRX.

Its been rock solid for me.

You'll love the 1080 playback especially when shooting off speed, before that we use HyperDeck Shuttle to check focus.

We had an issue on 2.0.2 where if you formatted sevral redmags at same time, and then started to record on the first mag and just replace, some of the files on the others mags got wrong numbering. Safest way is to instert redmag, format and then record on to it until it needs to be replaced.

No major probs here... Its been great!

Just a rolling image in the BOMB EVF only!...

But to be honest, just having playback.. and not just playback, but probably the best playback controls ever! (especially the trim and loop controls)

I'd say your mad if you don't install it. !

+1. I only have the same scrolling playback issue, but all else works great.. I know Ketch had an issue with HDRx that locked his camera up, but this has never happened to me..

I would just make sure you have a ssd card with your current version always available just incase..

Good luck :-)
