Aloha,

I went to a local machine shop and had them make me an adapter so that my Redrock Follow Focus would mount directly to the 19mm rods on my Red. It only cost like $300 to have made. I have some ideas for a better version that will clamp on instead of having complete holes for the rods.

Just take the screws out of your RR FF and screw it to this. Easy to change from 15mm to 19mm and back.

I have been using this for months and it works great.

Here are some pics.

Nice work. We need more people like you in this world.

Maybe shop around machine shops next time, but you have the right idea.

Who wants to pay 100 US Dollars for a piece of plastic from India. INSTEAD go to a Plastic Shop with your Pretty Aluminum Piece and have them make you a mold to fill plastic in. Do a Batch run and YOU sell it on ebay for 50 US Dollars.

How much width do those adapters add? I was concerned that they would make it difficult to use short lenses with the already wide Redrock FF.

I am pretty happy with my little adapter until I get a better FF.

I agree I wouldnt pay 100 bucks for a piece of plastic.. but My link showcased an aluminum adapter..

Zak:

Your proposed alternative solution would require not only the part from ebay, but a short set of 15mm rods and the original base for the RR FF. I would say his solution, regardless of price, is a great weight savings. I just bought an adapter from Zacuto that does this very same thing for my Zacuto FF - and the price isn't much different. Well done!

Nick.
